Compiler is closed (for now).

This ambitious effort to build an independent, nonprofit global tech policy publication is hitting pause.

Thank you to everyone who supported Compiler from the moment the idea first took shape in the spring of 2023. Along the way, we published exceptional journalism from some of the best tech writers working today and brought together an incredible community of thinkers, reporters, researchers and policy experts.

While this endeavor had many champions, it ultimately proved difficult to sustain in its current form. It was always an ambitious experiment and, I still believe, a deeply worthwhile one. I’m still processing everything I learned over the past three years and thinking about what comes next.

In the meantime, you can still read our featured stories and interviews, sharp analysis and opinion. We will keep an archive of Compiler stories available as a reference for anyone interested in this project, the future of technology and our approach to tech journalism.
